I have been working it for a while. What I found to make all the difference
happens at install time. In previous versions, this did not seem to be as
much an issue. When I install
7.2, toward the end of the install, it asks if you want text mode or gui
when the system boots. At this point there is a 'test' button. I have found
that if you don't test, you will likely NOT have working video. This
basically lets you test different settings until you find one that works. If
the test fails, you definitely will not have video after the install
completed. Hacking X itself can be a pain, however running Xtest to check
config changes makes post-install changes easier. Between the two, I have
been primarily using install/test method before the system comes online.

Subject: Redhat 7.2 video

I've installed Redhat 7.2 twice and had trouble
with the Xwindows configuration both times. I
still have yet to debug it. Has anyone else had
trouble with this on 7.2 . 7.1 wen't in smooth
without a problem, it did the autoprobe fine. 7.2
gets botched up. Has anyone else experienced this?
