Hi HamLUG people. From your web page it looks like an interesting
group. A little about myself:

Here at work we are stuck on Windows NT. I had a Redhat partition once,
but when our IT people got a look at it I almost lost my job, so my days of
"playing" here at work are over.

At home I have three machines all networked together using a Linksys Cable
router. On my primary machine I run Windows XP primarily, with two other
partitions. On those I have Redhat 8.0 and a copy of BeOS. My wife's
machine runs Windows XP exclusively, and the machine in the basement runs
whatever I feel like for the week ;-)

While most of my experience is with MS products, for the last two to three
years I have always had a linux build of one company or another on my
computer. I am no Linux newbie, but I wouldn't call myself an expert
either. More of a middle-of-the-road user. I have successfully set up
Samba shares from Linux to XP and vise versa and set up a DHCP server and
firewall using ipchains so I have SOME experience with networking also.

Personally, I consider myself more of a GUI person than anything else, and
I have managed to do some wonderfully complicated things using the X interface.

OK, enough boring stuff about me ;-)

Are you guys going to have a table at the TCF this year? I see a lot of
talk in the archives about it, but no real clear answer. I hope to see you
there if you do.

We've got our first baby on the way, so making the monthly meetings might
be a chore for me for a while, but I am going to try and make it in May. I
will bring my basement machine with a fresh copy of something Linux on it
if it will help.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you all. Incidentally, I live off
Nottingham Way just east of Five Points.

Take care all.

Eric
