A clarification regarding the showing of the Freedom Downtime video and the availability of copies of the tape at the two recent meetings:
They were provided as a personal contribution to the LUG and do NOT represent the HamLUG's official views, policies, etc. That is, whether one agrees, disagrees, whatever witht he FD video's contetn, don't assume that HamLUG automatically holds to the views expressed in the video. They were simply provided "as-is" for your information and opprtunity to see one view of "hacker issues." J.D. Abolins (my views don't represent those of HamLUG or anybody else. In fact, sometimes, my views don't even represent my own! <g>) PS. It was mentioned at the July meeting that Kevin Mitnick was recently charged with credit card fraud. I am trying to verify this because if true, it is a sad case of soembody blowing a chance to get started again with life and making life tough for all the people who supported him along the way. I am checking my legal news sources and nothing comes up for Mitnick along the lines of a recent arrest or charges. The only thing I come up with is a hearing in June regarding the suspension of Mitnick's amature radio license. If anybody has a reference for the credit card fraud report (not the old news from several years ago about him having the file with 20,000 cc#s from Netcom), please send it to me. Thank you.
