Since the October meeting, where we were wireless and fancy free, The
WLAN-NG drivers have been fixed to work under redhat 8.0!

There were the inevitable compile time errors and the little issues after
that, But take a peek at the 1.16pre-2 stuff if you had problems getting
wireless on RH8.0! The drivers are still a work in progress, but what
progress!

Let me know if you have any results! I have successfully tried Linksys
WUSB11 Ver2.5 usb wireless and DLink DWL650. If you have not tried wireless
yet, be careful. This driver is written for Prism2-Prism3 based cards.

NOTE:
Vendor model numbers DO NOT reflect the change when they switch the main
chip under the hood!!! There has been a ton of traffic about why doesnt the
driver work, only to find that the NEXT release of the card had a different
chip than the previous. By different I mean last release may have used
Prism2.5 and next release used a chip from the ATMEL family which is NOT
code compatable. (some of the chips do not have open specs or propritetary
linux based drivers, buyer beware!!!

Looking forward to the next meeting! Anyone for picking subjects ot be
covered? Continuation of last meeting or new?

Jerry
