What is interesting about this article, asside from
the fact that it is insightful, it's author obviously
well informed - is that some time in 1988-89 I heard,
I believe it was on an audio tape, that George H. Bush
was the most dangerous man in washington. That
statement was made before he was elected president. 

At the time I thought about that statement and it's
ramifications for a long time. I never forgot the
statement. It has haunted me ever since. This article
explains why - why the statement was made and possibly
why it stuck with me, even though I didn't have the
reasons at the time. Ever since I heard the statement
I watched and evaluated. My ears were perked up. I
paid attention more closely. 

This article, 13 years later, makes sense out of that
simple phrase.

These are indeed dark times.
