The difference is that in Canada, we have the Notwithstanding Clause,
so governments can *legally* thumb their noses at (the rest of) the
Constitution. :(

At least in the US, Trump has to break the law to do that.  NWC was
a mistake of historic proportions, much like the US Second Amendment.
Total ignorance of unintended consequences.
