I'll second JFM's comments.

While I have used other distros, for my main machinery I've used Mint for quite
a while,
in part because the interface was more familiar to people (my household) who
came a long
time ago to Linux from Win XP. I've actually allowed snaps in Mint so I can
test some
apps not available otherwise, but I've got to say I've NOT been impressed and
most if
not all are now deleted. If I have options for things not in the Mint repo,
I'll prefer
appimage or flatpak in that priority. In one instance (the Arduino IDE) it
seems the
appimage works but the Mint repo version is missing some features (I think
board specs).

Just my experience, which is likely not extensive, and is directed towards more
pedestrian
uses than other members of group are likely to be involved in.

Even for an LTS release of Ubuntu, I would try to stay away from it, unless your apps and requirements absolutely need something that uses snap. Snap is the way that Ubuntu wants to have everything and it was causing issues on our server for linux-gatineau.org <http://linux-gatineau.org>. Mint in that case actually disables snap. I did not try LMDE yet, I'm waiting to see LMDE 7 which will be based on the latest Debian (Trixie).

You really want to mess with a non-LTS and do a reinstall or upgrade
    every 6 months?
