Try starting the document in .doc format from the beginning, always using version 97/2000/XP/2003 since that is most compatible. You can set this permanently in the options. We have found this solves many of the translation issues, and results in a great impression on users, instead of frustration as you experience now
Once LibreOffice can interoperate seamlessly, absolutely perfectly with MS Office, then everyone will use LibreOffice and MS Office will go away.
