Immediate job openings for federal contract doing Linux admin, here in NCR.

Need someone technical, familiar with RHEL distribution. Long-term possible.

They will need to work days on-site, in the East end of Ottawa. Let me know if
you can recommend anyone who has 5+ years of Linux RedHat/SuSE. Department
with lots of Enterprise Linux already deployed, applications with high profile,
public facing consequences. Canada web presence, etc. Etc.

The pay is fairly decent per-diem; comparable or exceeding industry standard
rates. Email for details.
They just redo all contracts, so I suggest this is good for next 2 year. For
who wants a decent rate, good time to negotiate it, now perhaps. They get some
site introduction.

Just pass an email, if interest expressed.

Anyone can qualify for interview. Can be early to mid-career, hold clearance
or upgrade it when they apply.

Even better, if you have work with the government or Enterprise clients already
and can negotiate new rate, maybe upward of past. Seems a little rushed to
fill this position, so that is ideal for the first candidate to respond.
Junior to Intermediate and/or Senior accepted as long as they have the skills.
Only send skills / status / available, to pass on your contact info - don't
need your resume to obtain interview as this can be done later when they work
with the interview.

Ongoing demand for multiple Linux contractors. Some more senior may have found
the rates were down before, this doesn't appear to be the case presently
because demand went up, when all contracts were switched over.

= Importance of OSS/FL sys-admin in GC:

Why are Linux system administrators important to the Government of Canada?
Presently there is a lot of infrastructure being maintained with-in the federal
government which is based on Open Source systems running Enterprise Linux.

There is support of: installs, web servers, large databases.

Did you know: that one of the largest Canadian government portals, now runs
Linux? This is a fact as Netcraft confirms that gc is now a Linux shop.

For this reason, recruiters need the assistance of the Open Source community to
staff each mandate with individuals that are competent, Linux enthusiasts and
want to see the Enterprise Open Source platform succeed and compete with
closed-source alternatives. This doesn't mean there aren't still use inside
GC: Windows(tm) and Solaris(tm), but that Linux is now strongly in-place
Enterprise with potentially thousands of Linux server, hundreds new through-out
the years.

This is where the demand is coming from..

The Canadian government has made their commitment, it is with hopes that they
find the ones who are the right type of recruit and who can benefit financially
and professionally from contract/full-time work with-in the GC merged-IT
environment.

What-ever the political future of departments, there is a common platform and
it is now designed into the GC, from the documents available.

Thank you,
