Kev,
You're in luck. I just set this up for my server so its still fresh
in my mind.
First open a console and type "vncpasswd"; this will allow you set the
password for the vnc connection.
Second, to set up a simple/default vnc desktop, type "vncserver :1";
this will start a virtual desktop that you can connect to by using the
vncviewer and entering your ip address and "1" as the display
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1) for example. For more advanced vncserver commands
type "man vncserver" or "vncserver -help".
Now, the kicker, is that the desktop that you will see when you use
vncviewer is not the desktop that you get when logged into the server
itself. At least, I've found no way to do this. So if I have firefox
open through VNC, then login locally to my server, I will not see
firefox open.
If anyone has info on how to setup VNC to actually show the physical
desktop, that would be greatly appreciated info.
Hope this helps you out,
