What exactly do you consider to be a "software/business application"?
OpenOffice isn't what I would call a business application, it's an
office suite which can be used just as well to write a letter to
grandma as preparing the company's ten year budget.

That said, http://www.google.com/ and http://freshmeat.net/ tend to be
two pretty good places to start...
