I am moslty new to Linux.
After finally getting DSL-N installed on my old
300 MHz AMD, I can not get the CD to mount.
Much research on the web and communicating with
a support group has gotten me closer to the problem
but has not lead to a solution.
It seems that when booting DSL from the CD everything
goes well, but when I boot from the HD, then the CD
will not mount.
I have had good help getting past the basic commands.
The CD is the master on the second IDE port. It seems
that I don't have any module loading that will make
ide-scsi work.
The drive is recognized during the boot process when
probing the ide channels.
But, I get a different message when booting from the
CD than I get when booting from the HD.
# excerpt of dmesg when booting from HD
hda: cache flushes supported
hda: hda1 hda2 < hda5 >
ide-cd: passing drive hdc to ide-scsi emulation.
libata version 1.11 loaded.
# excerpt of dmesg when booting from CD
hda: cache flushes supported
hda: hda1 hda2 < hda5 >
hdc: ATAPI 32X CD-ROM drive, 128kB Cache
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
libata version 1.11 loaded.
Any suggestions on how to get the CDROM mounted?
