Email was around long before the web.  What you need is a mail transport
agent like postfix or sendmail.  I prefer postfix, as it's a lot easier
to set up for most configurations.

I would suggest downloading and installing Firewall Builder.  It's good
for using a GUI to build up your firewall rules.
