Hi,
I think my computer is a
Toshiba Satellite Intel Centrino Duo T2300 @ 166 Ghz, 0.99 of RAM
XP Media edition 2002 service pack 2

I can't figure out how much memory it has(is it listed up there^?),
but it has a lot, at least a year ago it did.

In a link in the archives, there was a comment that it was difficult
to install Linux on a note book and basically not to bother, but to
purchase one with it preinstalled (but it might work, is it was worth
trying?), is this still the case? I was looking at the list of
hardware (in the control panel?)and I see that it is probably beyond
my ability to configure everything. I would like to learn. I do not
know how to input commands.

I Was reading about Gentoo: ..."The main advantage of this is that all
software is highly optimised for the computer architecture it is built
on." ... "The computer architecture", does that mean or include
drivers for hardware?

I would like a customized OS that ran very efficiently, and I like
flashy desktops ;-) but I will use what ever I can. I was wondering if
I could partition the HD to install 2 distros and XP?

I am not sure what to do. I will read all the links and files. I do
not have MS Word, just OO and I can only open the PDF files in the
files of this group. I am not very disciplined at reading technical
data, so I am grateful for about that ;-)

About net neutrality, I called US Senator Ron Wyden
http://wyden.senate.gov/ to offer my opinion about the importance of
maintaining net neutrality and I think the woman said that Ron Wyden
coined the term. It appears that there are some politicians who are
trying to do the "right thing" and are standing up to AT$T, but they
need to hear our opinions or they will not be able to. So I call them
every 2 weeks or so. I also told them I think the government needs to
implement separation of big business/$ and state as they did long ago
with church and state to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest.
It is at least as important that Government officials avoid the
appearance of conflict of interest as lawyers working for private
clients, isn't it? I can not think of any issue that this would not
improve.
Thanks,
Shody
