Just want to correct one thing on the recommendations - to add yourself 
to the 'www' or 'www-data' group, you do not use the chown command - 
that is for changing file permissions, not user or group settings.  To 
add yourself to another group you can run vipw -g, vi /etc/group, or the 
usermod command.
