Am also a Linux novice, however I've had no problems
with a multi-boot setup
via Ubuntu 7.10.
I first divided my 120GB HD into 3 partitions using
gparted with the live
CD.
Then installed XP pro on the first partition followed
by Vista Ultimate on
the second.
After this I again booted the live Ubuntu CD &
instructed it to format &
install itself using the remaining space on the 3rd
partition.
Ubuntu then went ahead & set up the grub multi-boot
menu allowing me to
choose any of the 3 OS's without further input.
Could not have been easier! (However I don't know why
I even bothered to
include Vista...I hate it!)
G.
