If you are running from the CD then you will probably have difficulty
because Ubuntu does not include restricted drivers by default and they
must be installed from the repositories using Synaptic or apt-get.
However the CD does not allow you to write to it. You can probably
temporarily add them to RAM, but will have to do this each time. If you
want to continue to run from CD then I suggest you use persistent mode.

If you have installed Ubuntu to a hard drive then any changes made will
persist from session to session. I am not running Ubuntu now so I can't
remember the exact things that you will need. You can check the
sections of the repositories in Synaptic. Look under Multimedia
(contrib) or (non free) and anything that says Restricted.
