Here are a couple of links that you can try.  I started down this path
and found that it wasn't necessary with the latest version of kubuntu,
the functionality was already built in.  I would ask your question to
the group as I am certain the 3rd party drivers app is installed in
Ubuntu and can be accessed through the gnome menu somehow.  Its the
same app that installed my nvidia drivers.
