Check if your BIOS detects your HDD, if not problem is with HDD.
Since you have an upgrade version of XP, I assume you already have
some windows version installed on your HD partition.
XP upgrade is done from within windows, so probably it should already
know about your HD.
Somehow I feel this is more related to windows rather than linux.
If you face any issues while installing linux, post it here, the group
members would be glad to help you out.
