I am surprised that Toshiba say they needed to re-install Windows, not good 
service at all.  Were not Toshiba one of the manufacturers who offered Linux as 
an alternative to the ghastly Windows Vista in order to encourage sales.  Some 
people want Windows but no-one wanted Vista.

I have run Opensuse on my Toshiba Equiuum A100 for a year now without any 
problem.
