I think my memory slipped back to when Linux wouldn't install to anything other
than the first drive like Windows, even worse "DOS." My Google search didn't
say that had changed and the screenshots in the many reviews didn't mention
that or I missed it.

I even tried to install on one of my computers first, only to have to exchange
a DVD drive, spring broke on the drawer, then I found out my PCI-X SATA
controller is bad. On his computer, I had to pull the CD-ROM, since his
DVD/CD-RW wouldn't read right, someone even wrote on it "LG Sucks," I made it
the slave for now.

My Mint Forum Log-in was discontinued, so I had to find an email address
through a review to hopefully have it activated again. I had stopped using it,
since I got used to Ubuntu's Gnome menus, but that is changing in the future in
some way, or so I read.

Thanks for the assistance,
Joan in Reno

Just as an aside to consider, will XP even boot if it's not on the

first partition on first hard disk? It's been so long since I messed

with an XP system, but that's something to think about. It used to be

that Windows was coded so that it had to reside on the first partition

on the first (Primary Master) hard disk, otherwise, it would not boot

at all. I want to say that carried over into XP and didn't get fixed

until maybe Vista, but I'm not sure. As I said, it's been ages since

I last messed with XP.

Cheers,

Jeff
