Robert,
I am surprised also.  I was the one who mentioned that when I 
order computers for my company, modems are an add-on at extra cost.
I personally did not think anything either of us said should
have been taken that seriously.  I don't buy from best buy or
other local places so I don't know how they sell their computers
but would be surprised if they routinely have modems.  Any way,
don't take it personally.  We don't know what was going on in his
life that put him on that much of an edge.
