Telling us what application and possibly even what distribution you are using could be useful in giving you some options as to what you can do. What desktop X Window manager you use couldn't hurt either. As all Linux really is is a couple files sitting in /boot and the rest varies considerably from installation to installation. Depending on circumstances telling us how you installed this application may even matter too so tossing that in cannot hurt.
