I am sure that I am not alone in my confusion. Wine does not use a separate printer driver. It uses the Linux driver. It is a Linux application and Wine is not a virtual machine.
PPDs for installing Windows printer drivers in Linux do not need Wine. You install the printer normally through the Ubuntu System menu. When it comes time for the driver you click on PPD and navigate to the file which had better not be located in Wine unless you know how to locate it in the hidden folder .wine. I would like to know more about his problem before commenting specifically.
