Is the primary benifit of using a wireless program like nmcli instead of ifconfig/iwconfig just a matter of not storing the network key in plain text in your shell history? Presumably that key is encrypted during transfer and communication with the WAP, but oddly I didn't have much luck finding documentation on that. Does anybody know if when you connect via "iwconfig wlan0 essid <name> key s:<encryption_key> if that is transmitted unsecured over the air? I'm suddenly wishing I had looked into this more in the past... > ------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, please email [email protected] & you will be removed.Yahoo!
