Ummm... what? Floppy controllers (FDD stands for Floppy Disk Drive and FDC stands for Floppy Disk Controller) most certainly do NOT control Hard Drives and CD-ROM drives now, or at any point in the past that I'm aware of. SATA is the current ATA standard for Hard Drives and CD-ROMs, IDE was the previous standard and is still in use to a degree on current MBs. SAS is the current SCSI standard, though a LOT of older SCSI controllers are still in use as well... you can't beat a good, cheap U360 card.
