Did you try running is 32-bit mode on your 64-bit laptop? Have you tried

Last year I had linux mint 32bit on an old compaq laptop and I was able
to use the pre installed wine for installing grabit, quick par, and winrar. and
i was able to view good mkv tv shows and moves. the problem came when trying
this on a 64 bit laptop my acer 3d. I could get grabit & quick par to work but
that was it.so back to win 7x64 maybe others try this also?
