Hi,
I heared there is work being done to enable changing clock speed and watching
fans from running linux. Many boards also have heat sensors and it should be
possible to read them as well. Then what about a deamon that initially sets the
maximum (or optimal) clock speed than if CPU shows signs of overheating it will
insrease fan RPM (well, that maybe in the future) and/or drop clock speed. In
case of critical overhead it may even shutdown the machine.

At least this way when user complains that the server is too slow sysadmin can
say "well, it's a hot day".  :-)
