I am having some kexec issues.

I have a 2.2.19 kernel and large (17M) initrd that I am netbooting
with kexec.

Kexec kernel is 2.4.1
mkelfImage is 1.7
Hardware is a custom embedded system based on 440bx chipset

Depending on the size of the initrd image and the compression level I
use for the initrd image I can either make kexec work properly,
throw an kernel oops, or it will boot but the resulting initrd is
corrupted.

Examples.

initrd is sized to be 20Meg. No compression. Works great.
initrd = 20Megs Compression at -9. Kernel oops (2.4.1 kernel
oops, ie it never reboots)
initrd = 20Megs Compression at -8. Loads but booted kernel chokes
on the initrd (ext2-fs errors)

initrd = 18Megs No compression. Works great
initrd = 18Megs Compression at -9. Loads but booted kernel chokes on
initrd with errors

different initrd = 2Megs Compression at -9. Works great

Any ideas?
