At least of the Xeon Intel has documents that specific to the model of cpu you are using. And the values where in there. I don't think this is speed step technology as it requires a reboot to change the clock multiplier. You might also want to look at msrs 0x2c && 0x2d. I don't have these totally figured but it looks like on the newer Xeons these controll the cpu frequency, instead of the strap values on the cpu. Eric
