I am trying to do so, but i got stuck at the stage of memory
initialisation due to lack of specs about the VIA VT8363 chip :-(

For this purpose, i did a rather simple "daugtherboard" that
allows you to have both flashes in parallel (selectable
by a switch). Schematic can be downloaded here:
wget -c
http://www.rcs.ei.tum.de/~kuhn/linuxbios/flashextender/schematics.pdf
This "Flash Extender" can be mounted with 8 x 512 KByte Flashes (4
MByte).
As it isnt simple to get write access to the flash, i reverse
enigeneered
the Award BIOS-Flash hook and did a simple flasher tool for the
extender.
Since i am too lacy to put the stuff on a web site, you can get the
flasher
on request :-)

AFAIK 10.000 to 100.000 times, depending on the manufacturer.
AFAIR, M-Systems tell something about 1.000.000 times, but this
IMHO means "write accesses" to the flashdisk, where write accesses
to the same file are not always done to the same block.
