By the way, to make it even harder. On the VIA southbridge, you can individually enable resources such as COM1, COM2, IDE, and so on. So you have a southbridge which does some things, and a superio which does others. So, Eric, the idea is we have a table that describes this, and you want to parse it in linux? that might do it? ron
