Hi my asus mainboard has just arrived.As this uses a plcc flash chip i
intend on using a 512k flash chip. The problem being that the chip is
soldered in place not socketed as i was lead to belive still i quite good
with a fine iron so fitting a SMD socket shouldn't be be out of the question
i may glue this on top of the existing chip and put a toggle switch on the
CE line instant recovery mode! That shouldn't be to difficult but i need to
find a A18 signal from some where on the board, as there is no ISA bus.
Would the AD18 line on the PCI bus be any good it would need a latch at
least but could this work. Else the only other way i can see is a nasty hack
using say a printer port pin and a modified kernel loader.
Also if i get past that bit what needs to be done to build the flash image.
I've looked at the source code and even built the SIS howto, but the source
tree is very confusing.
