we could move to 2.4.9, but if we move to 2.4.10 would be better......

   The latest stable version of the Linux kernel is:     2.4.9
   The latest prepatch (alpha) version *appears* to be:  2.4.10-pre8 

It's not out yet but I think it will be in a week or two.
