Not really.  The goal is to develop something better.  The highly
publicized part EFI is not so much a firmware interface but a
replacement for dos, that happens to reside in your systems rom.
Another perspective is that EFI is just the bootloader portion of the
ia64 firmware.

As for the lower level firmware specifications that underly EFI we
might choose to be compatible.  But at this point we really haven't
evaluated what we are doing on ia64 yet.

We are cross platform and the codebase is getting mature.
