We just got an interesting hint from a 430tx person.

On most chipsets, to issue commands for setup, you issue a read. i.e., you
set a NOP command, and then do a read to ram, which results in a NOP command
to ram.

It appears, according to my source, that on 430TX it is more useful to do a
WRITE, not a READ. Odd. Although the hardware designer in me feels that it
makes way more sense, all our other chipsets to date have used read, not
write.

I won't be able to test this until january, but I'll let you all know how it
goes.
