If using LinuxBIOS with etherboot is an option for you, you
can put the code into a simple standard flash device (1 or 2 MBit)
In this case flashing on a 430*X chipset works nicely using 
/dev/bios. See http://www.freiburg.linux.de/openbios/status/devbios.html

If there's need for an FAQ/Howto on flashing LinuxBIOS on standard flash
parts using /dev/bios, drop me a note. I can mix something up.
