ah, yes, redhat 7.2. The distribution kernel tries to read an MSR that
does not exist on the K7, so it gets a GPF. 7.2 is a real screwup that
way. You install it and the kernel they set up dies right away. So you
think it is a problem with your hardware, and it turns out it is a problem
with redhat.
I like Redhat, but their distributions have gotten very fragile.
