Hello from Gregg C Levine
I don't know if I should be beating drums over this but here goes: I
have gotten the build process with minor warnings to work, for the 440GX
series of boards to work, under this release of Red Hat. It is 6.2, and
it contains the original tool set, as of when that version was posted to
the assorted ftp sites, its own, and mirrors. Now the funny question,
does anyone have any idea as to how I could get it to work under the
Bochs emulator? That's limited functions available for the 440FX series
of boards under it, but they won't reveal how much. Curiously enough,
that means the emulator is emulating its host. My current Linux box is
running on a 440fx based board from Tyan, the S1468 one, with the latest
and final BIOS version. Ron, my apologies for griping about this one,
regarding which distribution the group has preferences for, having been
working with Red Hat for this many days, I am convinced, it is the
friendlier, of the two that I have ran here, but not on the side of
costs. It seems to cost more then my usual brand. I'll try the other of
the Intel chipsets that I have adopted, later, that is the 440bx. Now
has anyone done a board port, that is 440fx based? Or are they so
similar in function that it really does not matter?
