Not much has been done with the apache module. Lately, some command line
has been added to configure a virtual host non interactivly and also some
code so the apache module participate with the virtual module (not
released yet) to create a single global configuration for all virtual
services (ftp, email, web, ...)

So it is pretty much what you have seen some time ago.
