Correct. From the pppd man page:
idle n Specifies that pppd should disconnect if the link
is idle for n seconds.

Right first time. Seconds. See above <grin>!
Good help screens for the PPP dialogues (both the old PPP/SLIP/PLIP
and the newer dialout module) are badly needed. In the meantime,
reading the existing pppd documentation does definitely help. Using
Linuxconf does not mean system admins need not learn about the
underlying tools that it configures :-)
Some of the current menus do seem to assume a basic familiarity with
the underlying subsystems or tools. dialout is one of them.

I can't duplicate this one in RedHat 5.2 with Linuxconf 1.13r8 and the
dialout module. It lets me enter (and saves) any numeric value I can
think of between 0 and 2147483647, which should be sufficient range
for most users :-)
