No they are not needed for 5.0. The problem you have is because you have
some script made for redhat 5.1/5.2 in your 5.0 system. RedHat produced
upgrades for 5.0 using scripts for 5.1. This is confusing linuxconf. For
example, the "network" script should not be executed at all on your
systeme. This would eliminate some errors. The other problem seems to be a
file handle leak in Linuxconf. The third problem is a cosmetic bug in the
ifconfig command.
I will try to replicate the problems you have and will get back to you.
