You must enable the dialout module in linuxconf. You can do it either in
"control file and systems/Linuxconf modules" menu or by doing
linuxconf --setmod dialout
Note that you must upgrade to linuxconf found on
ftp.solucorp.qc.ca/pub/linuxconf/devel/redhat-5.2 because there is a
packaging bug in the linuxconf official redhat package.
Then install diald-0.16 found on contrib.redhat.com/libc6/i386.
Then create an empty /etc/diald.conf
echo >/etc/diald.conf
Configure you PPP link using the dialout module. You will find this in the
networking/client tasks/PPP/Slip dialout menu. Once you have the link
working manually, just flip the mode to "on demand" and exit from
linuxconf. It will start diald and there you go.
