Hi Guys/Girls,

Red Hat IPO and our project:

Just saw this, we may want to gather our pennies. Red Hat is has filed
for an IPO. This should be good press.

Actually this may make our attendance go through the roof if it is timed
right. And Red Hat generates as much press as E-Bay, Amazon did.

But on to other things.

Linux World Expo and Sponsors:

I was looking at the list of sponsors at LinuxWorld Expo's site and
found that. There are a ton of companies listed. So I may start working
off of their list. That may be almost a complete list of
companies/groups we would want to contact.

No news on the Open Source Booths on their site. But the LUG link was
dead also.

Diary:

I have learned quite a bit about this stuff in only the 2 weeks that I
have been doing it. So I decided to keep a diary. Maybe we should keep
one for the whole project as well?

My Take on the sponsors:

I think we are doing alright as far as getting sponsors. I am sure that
now that we have 3 big names others will follow suit and some even may
begin contacting us. When LI and the other distros come on then
interest will probably soar. Plus I haven't gotten a press release out
to like ZD and that whole group of the media. So I would expect that we
should be able to make my July 1 timeframe for sponsors.

Company List:

I have as of right now these companies as participating:

VA Linux Systems
Penguin Computing
Red Hat SOftware - Agreed to provide a distribution for every
LUG participating.
Applix (?) Not Confirmed but would like to participate.
WiredGlobal

I have it on good authority that:

Linux International
Caldera -
SuSE - Currently moving offices
Star Division - Re-organizing their infrastructure.

Companies still waiting on:

Corel - Need to contact by phone
Puffin Group
Linuxberg
Oracle - Need to contact by phone
Atipa

Open Source Groups that have been contacted:

Debian

Next group to contact:

O'Reilly
The Linux Store
Computer Associates
LinuxCare
Cygnus Solutions
Pacific HiTech
