Well, finally was able to get 1024x768 res. Sachin Mathur deserves thanks
for this by suggesting to change the upper limit of the Horizontal
refresh rate. For example in the concerned case the horizontal refresh
rate was set at 30-64 by Xconfigurator, which I changed to 30-50 and now
the resolution is working. I don't know why it works, but it works.
But I still couldn't manage to start Gnome. First I tried "gnome-session",
then I tried with "install-gnome". In both cases I got "bash... command
not found". For info I have RHL 5.2 and had installed "everything" during
installation. Any guess what I am missing to do/install.
