Two things to lookout in linux .. n/w interfaces are up and routing is ok
commands : ifconfig , route
In winnt try "route print" command to check your network settings which
include IP addr .. broadcast address , netmask etc..
Comfigure one PC as a server ..

Squid is a proxy server available for linux
Once activated on linux .. in the netscape settings specify the proxy as the
linux machine
Also specify the port on which the proxy is running .. don't have the
default port number .. check /etc/squid.conf

Samba is just an implementation of the Server message block protocol that u
can use for file/printer sharing and comm b/w the 2 PC's
Samba makes linux appear as a winnt PC and has features of winnt sharing /
printing / domain logons
Latest version of samba also can make your Linux pc a PDC
