Which had been set all the time.

Because of that, it should send mails. While my hostname is set (via
linuxconf, not `hostname` (/etc/HOSTNAME is blank)) to hal9k, you get the
same headers that are on the message, and all mail (via pine, via scripts,
lynx, etc) goes through (and my system appears as hal9k.org before my
sendmail changes the from line).

OTOH, if I set hostname to localhost, only pine (user satyap:root) can
send email. Mail from any other source (except direct telnet localhost 25)
causes sendmail -q -vvv -d100 to show that my sendmail is telling everyone
else that the MAIL (is) FROM [EMAIL PROTECTED] !

Here's current sendmail.cf:
# Alias for this host
Cw localhost hal9k
# Virtual email domain
# who I masquerade as (null for no masquerading)
DMbom2.vsnl.net.in
# Smart host
DS
# Use this mailer to reach the Smart host
DNsmtp
# Central host for local mail
DH
