I also think its better to have separate partitions... i have separate /,/usr,/boot, 
partitions.

If u do create a /boot partition it should be around 16 MB in size.

for you this is what i suggest :

swap = about 32 meg or as much as ur ram ...whichever is bigger
/ = remaining ....

dont get into making any other partitions ...dont think u'd need it ...
