xfs will probably simply die if it finds itself already running. I don't
know for sure.

I noticed something else yesterday. Firstly, XF86Setup removes the link
to XFS in XF86Config. It instead inserts a proper font path, making
XFree86 use its internal font server. To move back to XFS, edit
/etc/X11/XF86Config and in the Files section, change the value of the
FontPath entry to "unix/:-1"

Secondly, XFree86 doesn't seem to pick up new fonts from XFS unless I
restart X too. That defeats the purpose of having XFS as a separate
process. This wasn't a problem under RH6, so I guess it's something new
with XFree86 3.3.5, or with Mandrake's patches to 3.3.5.
