I don't think so. He has the permissions correct - the original post
had shown all the relevant info. I had faced the same problem not just
with doom, but with many other binary only programs as well. I didn't
know that the doom source code was out, and I think SunSite still has
only the libc5 version. Where do I get the sources from?
P'raps the original poster will clarify where he got the program from.
